Rep. La Ha’s HB3677 Passes the House, Eliminating Pre-Authorization Requirements for Already Approved Wheelchair Equipment

Lemont, IL…Today, State Representative La Ha proudly announced the passage of HB3677, the Complex Rehabilitation Technology Act, in the Illinois House. This legislation helps wheelchair users by eliminating pre-authorization requirements for repairs on already approved equipment.

“This bill is about freedom and mobility,” said Rep. La Ha. “For wheelchair users, every delay in repairs is a barrier to independence. HB3677 streamlines the repair process, ensuring that Illinois residents can get back on the go quickly and without unnecessary hurdles.”

The bill equips independent repair providers with access to essential tools, training, and resources needed to fix complex wheelchairs efficiently. By reducing reliance on manufacturers, HB3677 promotes timely, affordable repairs to support the independence of those whose independence relies on wheelchairs.

HB3677 is an important step forward for mobility and freedom. The bill now heads to the Senate.

Rep. La Ha has two more bills to be heard today, HB1788 to improve ADA access in public spaces, and HB3377 to ensure transparency in school funding for homeless students.

Rep. Nicole La Ha proudly serves the people of the 82nd District.
