Access to Good Jobs for All

State Representative Nicole La Ha released the following statement in recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month:

“October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), a time to celebrate the invaluable contributions of individuals with disabilities to our workforce and economy. This month serves not only to honor their achievements but also to raise awareness about the ongoing challenges in disability employment and promote inclusivity in workplaces across the nation.

The theme for NDEAM 2024, “Access to Good Jobs for All,” emphasizes the importance of equitable opportunities in the job market. The U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy highlights this theme to inspire action toward breaking down barriers and ensuring that all individuals, regardless of ability, have access to meaningful employment.

I was proud to vote for HB0793, which would eliminate subminimum wage for people with disabilities. I believe that everyone deserves equal pay, and I will continue to support legislation that makes that vision a reality in Illinois.

Join me in advocating for a more inclusive workforce where everyone can thrive!”
