State Representative Nicole La Ha released the following statement about her co-sponsorship of HB5738:
“Illinois families are still feeling the pressure every time they pull up to the gas pump. Commuters, parents driving kids to school, small business owners, and seniors on fixed incomes are all paying the price.
That’s why I’m proud to co-sponsor House Bill 5738, legislation that would suspend the state sales tax on gasoline and provide immediate relief to families across Illinois.
People deserve a break. Temporary relief at the pump may not solve every challenge families are facing right now, but it would help put money back in people’s pockets at a time when many are stretched thin.
Unfortunately, the choice has been made to NOT move the legislation forward so far. With only 12 more days to go in session, families deserve action and I’m asking for this bill to be called. Illinois families shouldn’t have to keep waiting while costs continue to rise.”
Rep. Nicole La Ha proudly serves the people of the 82nd District.
