The Illinois Department of Natural Resources recently announced $385,500 in Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) Grant Funding to the Village of Indian Head Park for improvements to Sacajawea Park.
“I appreciate the OSLAD funding for this important project to continue to invest in quality of life for area families,” said Rep. La Ha. “Indian Head Park residents have a great resource in Sacajawea Park and this investment to redevelop Kelli’s Playground will add to even more families’ enjoyment of this local gem.”
Established by the Illinois General Assembly in 1986, OSLAD is a cost-sharing program between state and local governments that helps communities fund land acquisition and development for parks and outdoor recreation projects. Since its establishment, OSLAD has awarded $640 million for park projects throughout Illinois.
This year’s funding announcement continued investments in economically distressed communities, with nearly 20 underserved locations receiving $11.4 million in grants in this year’s grant awards.
