Prematurity Awareness Month

State Representative Nicole La Ha released the following statement concerning Prematurity Awareness Month:

“November is Prematurity Awareness Month. Every family with a premature infant knows the challenges, fears, and hopes that come with those first fragile days.

We know those same feelings as a proud family of a NICU graduate. That’s why I proudly cosponsored two bills to support families during these critical moments:

HB2978 –The Family Neonatal Intensive Care Leave Act would ensure parents can take protected time away from work while their child is in the NICU—up to 10 days for small employers and 20 days for larger ones—without losing their job or benefits.

HB3327 – Guarantees that infants born under 1,000 grams automatically qualify for early intervention services until age 3, and requires hospitals to provide families with clear information and support before discharge.

Prematurity touches so many lives, and families deserve the time, tools, and peace of mind they need to care for their children. I want to ensure every baby has the strongest possible start. 💜

Rep. Nicole La Ha proudly serves the people of the 82nd District.
