July is here, and that means road construction season is officially underway! Several infrastructure projects are kicking off in Lemont this month, so I want to make sure you know what to expect and how to stay safe on the road.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the work ahead:
2025 Resurfacing Project Starting July 7, resurfacing work will improve roads throughout Lemont, including:
• Pfeiffer Ave (Logan to State)
• Division St (Church to State)
• Hickory St (Logan to Short)
• Weimer Ave (Walter to State)
• Kim Place (from the school to Rosehill Dr)
• Stephen St (River to Industrial Park Dr)
127th Street Pedestrian Crossing Beginning the week of July 14, expect lane closures between Briarcliffe Dr and Rolling Meadows Dr while flaggers direct traffic. This should wrap up in just a few days.
Derby Road Bridge Repair Also starting the week of July 14, the bridge will remain open but reduced to one lane with temporary signals in place. Work is expected to last about a month.
Other upcoming improvements include the lead service line replacement (starting mid-August), the water main replacement project (slated for September or October), and the new Derby Road salt storage dome, beginning in August.
Please keep an eye out for workers, signage, and changing traffic patterns during this busy construction season. Your patience helps keep everyone safe while Lemont makes investments in our community’s infrastructure.
