Lame-duck session begins this Saturday, January 4th. A lame-duck session occurs whenever one General Assembly meets after the new General Assembly is elected, but before their successors’ terms begin.
Lower vote thresholds for tax increases and other major initiatives are in place during lame-duck sessions, per the Rules of the Illinois House.
Some of the worst bills passed by Democrats have come through during lame duck and we expect much of the same this time around. Illinois residents deserve better.
