In recognition of World Mental Health Day, State Representative Nicole La Ha released the following statement:
“On this World Mental Health Day, I want to take a moment to recognize the importance of mental health awareness and the ongoing efforts to support those in need. I’m proud to cosponsor three important bills that address critical issues in our communities.
SB3538 will require insurance provided by a Fire Protection District to First Responders include mental health counseling without any cost sharing requirement.
HB4928 designates June 27 as National PTSD Awareness Day in Illinois, shining a light on the impact of post-traumatic stress disorder and fostering understanding for those affected.
HB5129 would strengthen our response to individuals in crisis. It ensures that when someone is deemed a clear and present danger, key professionals are required to notify the appropriate authorities within 24 hours, prioritizing safety and timely intervention.
I am committed to advocating for mental health awareness and support for everyone in our communities. Together, we can make a difference.”
