State Representative Nicole La Ha and Senator John Curran are partnering to host an ICash event tomorrow, September 17, at the Willowbrook Community Resource Center, located at 825 Midway Drive. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering residents a chance to claim unclaimed property and funds through the Illinois State Treasurer’s ICash program.
The Illinois Treasurer’s office is currently holding $2.5 billion in unclaimed funds that belong to Illinoisans. This money includes everything from forgotten bank accounts to unclaimed insurance policies. The ICash program works to reunite residents with these assets, at no cost, as long as they provide proper identification.
“This event is a great opportunity for residents to come together and check if they have any unclaimed funds waiting for them,” said Rep. Nicole La Ha. “Too often, people don’t realize that there’s money that could be theirs, and this is a simple and free way to claim what belongs to you.”
Senator John Curran added, “We’re committed to making it easy for our community to access what’s rightfully theirs. The ICash program is a valuable resource, and we’re excited to host this event to help as many people as possible.”
The process is straightforward, with representatives available to guide participants through the steps of checking and claiming their unclaimed property. Whether it’s a forgotten savings account or an uncashed paycheck, you might be surprised to find what belongs to you.
