Remembering 9/11

State Representative Nicole La Ha released the following statement today on the 23rd anniversary of 9/11:

“Today, as we mark the 23rd anniversary of 9/11, I find myself reflecting on that fateful day. I was a college student at Eastern Illinois University, sitting in stunned silence with my roommates as we watched the second plane strike the World Trade Center. The images of that day are forever etched in my memory.

I recall the overwhelming bravery of first responders rushing toward the danger, their selflessness a testament to the very best of humanity. The courage of those on Flight 93 who fought back to prevent further devastation reminds us of the extraordinary resolve found in ordinary people.

Today, let us honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost and the countless families forever changed. Let us also remember the resilience that emerged from the tragedy, as we continue to rebuild and strengthen our nation. On this solemn day, join me in a commitment to never forget the lessons of September 11th and the unity that followed.

Never forget the shock and the grief we felt as a nation.

Never forget the courage of first responders and everyday heroes.

Never forget the lives lost and the families forever impacted.

Never forget our collective strength and resolve to move forward.

We will always remember. Together.”
