State Representative Nicole La Ha released the following statement in recognition of NICU Awareness month:
“NICU Awareness Month is celebrated in September to raise awareness and support for neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) and the amazing people who work in them.
NICUs provide critical care for premature and medically fragile newborns. The month is a time to recognize the challenges faced by NICUs, and to provide support for the families and patients who use them.
We are a proud NICU family that spent 42 days back-and-forth for our baby girl. 
This month I would like to acknowledge all the parents, all the grandparents, all the aunts and uncles, all the guardians and all the siblings who live through this experience.
We see you. We support you… and we are always praying for you.”
