Rep. Nicole La Ha Lowering Costs for Families

Lemont, IL…High taxes and wasteful spending are driving families out of the state in search of better opportunities. State Representative Nicole La Ha (R-Lemont) is advocating to reduce the financial burden on families by supporting key pieces of legislation aimed at lowering costs for Illinoisans.

“I believe that by reducing taxes on essentials such as diapers, food, medications, and energy, we can help alleviate some of the financial burdens on members of our community,” Rep. Nicole La Ha said. “I will continue to fight for policies that make it more affordable to live and thrive in Illinois.”

One piece of legislation is HR 24, which fights against taxing retirement income, making it easier for retirees to stay in Illinois. Additionally, she co-sponsored HB 4307 and HB 2336, which would reduce taxes on diapers, baby wipes, as well as certain foods and medications, providing much-needed relief for families.

Rep. La Ha also voted to extend energy relief programs for low-income residents through HB 4471, preventing spikes in energy bills that could adversely affect vulnerable populations.

Rep. La Ha has also supported healthcare cost reduction efforts by backing the Health Care Protection Act, HB 5395, working to address consumer concerns in the healthcare sector. Additionally, she fought for lowering daycare center costs by supporting lower taxes for their facilities through HB 4229.
